Why we decided to build InfraUX in public, even when we have nothing to show.

The Truth About Building in Public
September 2025. We decided to build InfraUX in public. But let's be honest from the start.
What We DON'T Have
Let's start with the truth:
- MRR: $0 (we have no customers)
- Active users: 0 (it's not even launched)
- Investment: $0 (nobody has offered us anything)
- Team: 1-2 people maximum
- Product: A very basic MVP with many bugs
Why Building in Public (For Real)
- Accountability: If we say we'll do something, we have to do it
- Learning: Documenting the process helps us improve
- Authenticity: There's no room for lies when everything is public
- Networking: Maybe someone will be interested in the project
What We'll Really Share
The Development Process
- Daily commits (when there are any)
- Bugs we find
- Features we try to build
- Days when nothing works
The Real Numbers
- $0 in revenue (for now)
- 0 paying users
- 100% bootstrap (our own money/time)
- Hours worked vs real progress
The Real Struggles
- How to balance this with work/life
- The frustration of bugs
- The loneliness of building alone
- The fear of public failure
The Real Risks
- Public embarrassment: If we fail, everyone will see it
- Mental pressure: Feeling you must show progress
- Burnout: Working in public can be exhausting
- Criticism: The internet can be cruel
The Expected Benefits
- Motivation: Knowing someone might be watching
- Early feedback: If someone tries it
- Documentation: For ourselves
- History: If it works someday, we'll have the complete journey
The Real Commitment
We won't lie with fake metrics. We won't inflate numbers. If we have 0 users, we'll say 0. If MRR is $0, we'll say $0.
What we DO promise:
- Total transparency about progress
- Share the code when it's less embarrassing
- Document real learnings
- Not invent vanity metrics
Conclusion
Building in public when you're nobody, without a finished product, without users, without investment, is hard. But we prefer brutal honesty to beautiful lies.
If you're reading this, you're probably one of the first 5 people to do so. And that's okay. We all start from zero.
